Graduate profile
Graduates from the Bachelor of Counselling will:
1) Be skilled and knowledgeable in Person-Centred counselling practice and able to maintain a therapeutic relationship and processes with clients.
2) Be able to participate professionally and effectively in the professional social services community and develop a sustainable career.
3) Have well developed self-awareness including awareness of interpersonal processes
4) Be able to work with a client positively, ethically and authentically, respecting the spiritual, religious and cultural values, beliefs and choices of the client.
5) ntegrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori perspectives, and ethnic diversity in Aotearoa New Zealand into culturally appropriate counselling practice.
6) Be ethical and principled practitioners who utilize supervision and maintain professional and personal development.

Employment pathways
The Bachelor of Counselling equips graduates to operate as professional counsellors in professional practice. Entry Requirements
Complete the Diploma in Counselling or equivalent. (Applicants from outside the ATC Diploma of Counselling programme need to provide a portfolio of evidence and apply for credit transfer from other programmes.) Provide evidence of good character and personal attributes via referee reports. Be free from addictions, or personal issues that might impair full participation in the programme.
