Subject-specific resource web pages

Teachers are encouraged to visit the subject-specific web pages to discover the wide range of resources and weblinks relating to teaching and assessment in their subject(s).

Subject-specific resource pages are found at: www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/resources/index.html

The resource pages are set out using a standard format with resources that include the following:

Standards

Links to all achievement and unit standard documents, by level. The subject matrix and previous achievement standard review documents are also available.

For internally assessed standards

•  National Moderator Reports

Annual report on issues arising from external moderation of internally assessed standards.

•  Clarification of standards

Document(s) that explicitly state the professional understandings that underpin assessment of standards in the subject. This includes amplifying the Explanatory or Assessment and Special Notes to the standards and collating information from a range of source such as National Moderator's Reports and Moderator Newsletters .

•  Moderator Newsletter

Topical information for teachers of the subject published each term and written by the moderators. This can include guidance on questions for teacher-selected samples, information about best practice workshops, reference to other publications, information about updated assessment resources published on TKI, discussion of forms of evidence, etc.

•  TKI Resources

This links directly to the NCEA assessment resources published on TKI for the subject.

•  What's 'Just Up' on TKI

This link assists teachers to quickly find the recently updated NCEA assessment resources published on TKI. Moderators have updated many TKI resources in 2008 and 2009 to ensure they meet the national standard.

•  Annotated Exemplars

In the future, annotated exemplars of student work demonstrating the different grades of achievement will be published for internally assessed standards.

For Externals

•  Assessment specifications

Each externally assessed achievement standard has annually published specifications relating to assessment of that standard in the current year. It is essential that teachers are familiar with the specifications of the standards for which they have students entered for external assessment each year.

•  Examination documents

Examination papers and related resources from previous years are available to download. These papers do not include any copyright resource materials. Where there is copyright material included in the printed examination paper, the full version including copyright material is available on the school's secure login. See the school's Principal's Nominee.

•  Portfolios

Where external assessment occurs through submission of a portfolio, information relating to submitting portfolios replaces the "Exam documents" heading.

•  Assessment schedules and judgements

Assessment schedules and judgement statements for the past examination papers are available to download.

•  Assessment Reports

Annual, detailed reports on past examinations in the subject.

•  Exemplars

Weblinks to examples of externally assessed portfolios or PDF documents of student examination scripts, annotated by the examiners, showing why achievement was awarded a particular grade.

•  Scholarship

Link to the Scholarship web pages and resources

Other Resources

A range of documents or weblinks may be available. This is variable across subjects. Most have a link to the information regarding Moderator Best Practice Workshops for 2009.

Circulars

Assessment Matters and SecQual circulars are linked in this section. Teachers can subscribe to the Circulars distribution list here as well.

Weblinks

Weblinks to non-commercial websites of particular interest to teachers of the subject are displayed in this section. Other suggestions can be made by using the "send us details" link at the bottom of the subject webpage.

As we are constantly updating and adding documents to these pages, it is recommended that teachers bookmark their subject page for ease of regular reference.
