Field business update

NZQA is making improvements to the structure of field Business on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

"The aim is to make it easier to locate standards of interest, to have a logical way of grouping standards in the same topic area together and to reflect the changing needs of the business sector," says Lynda Watson, National Qualifications Services acting manager.

Interested providers or Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) can check the NZQA website at: www.nzqa.govt.nz/framework search for business.

  • All 11 domains in subfield Management are shown as lapsing. No new standards will be registered in these domains, but existing standards in these domains can still be used.
  • Two new subfields, Business Environment, and Business Operations and Development are now shown (in italics). Standards from the subfield Management will gradually be reviewed, and reclassified into new domains under these subfields.

Training providers do not need to do anything now. When reviewed standards are registered in domains there is a transition period of at least two years. Standards and qualifications currently in the lapsing domains will still be available for use during this transition period. Accreditations will be automatically updated after each standards review to include relevant new domains or subfields.

"Nobody will be disadvantaged as a result of these changes to the NQF. It's part of a constant process of renewal and improvement," Lynda says.
