First Line Management standards reviewed

NZQA has reviewed the First Line Management unit standards and revised the level 4 National Certificate in First Line Management.

"The review involved reclassifying all the standards into new domains, so the results look quite dramatic. Providers shouldn't be alarmed, however, as their accreditations are automatically updated to include the new subfields and domains once each set of standards is reviewed," says Lynda Watson, National Qualifications Services team leader.

"We revised the level 4 National Certificate in First Line Management to make it easier to see which standards can be used, particularly for providers who are new to offering this qualification. The reference to domain First Line Management has been replaced with a list of standards in their new domains."

Providers can continue to use the previous version or transfer to version 2.

Interested providers or Industry Training Organisations can check the NZQA website. The December 2006 and January 2007 Review Summaries have information about the unit standards and the revised qualification.

"Later this year, we will be publishing the reviewed versions of several business qualifications, including both national certificates in First Line Management. Providers may wish to wait until after then before making any changes to their courses and assessments," Lynda says.
