Information workshops for Pasifika communities NZQA is working with the Ministry of Education and Career Services to deliver National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) information workshops to Pasifika communities. The workshops build on trial workshops held in June and follow a meeting between staff from NZQA's Policy and National Qualifications Services Teams and members of the North Shore Tongan Methodist Church community in August. Highlights of the August meeting included discussions on the National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA levels 1-3) and education pathways for Pasifika learners. Parents took the opportunity to ask questions on the range of National Certificates available at secondary schools, university entrance requirements and different ways they can support their children’s learning. Twice a year, NZQA offers up to ten workshops for Pasifika communities. If you would like to request a workshop in 2008 or find out more about them, email: policytm@nzqa.govt.nz. |
