Bursaries Top Art on tour

The best art from last year's secondary students is touring the country.

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority has assembled an exhibition of the top practical art folios from the 2001 University Bursaries examinations.

Twenty-seven of the top folios in design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture are in the Top Art collection. All folios received marks of 90% or higher in the 2001 Bursaries examinations.

Qualifications Authority Communications Manager Bill Lennox said this year's tour was organised following the success of two previous year's Top Art displays. "It's important that both teachers and students see the quality of work that scores very high marks. The Authority also publishes booklets and guidelines, showing a range of folios, but these are the top art students in the country. Top Art contains some stunning work from young people we expect to hear more of in the future."

The Top Art exhibition contains folios from the top five or six candidates in each art subject. The students come from Christchurch, Auckland, Wellington, Nelson, Dunedin, Havelock North, New Plymouth and Timaru.

The exhibition began touring the country on 27 May in Nelson. Seventeen regional education advisory services will host the collection which will be seen by this year's Bursaries candidates, their teachers and parents. In some regions, Top Art will be on display at public art galleries (see itinerary below).
