All polytechnics and universities have received a letter from NZQA with initial guidance on how to use NCEA level 1 for tertiary selection.
NZQA has had requests for information and guidance on how to interpret NCEA results and is meeting with academic managers throughout the country to help them develop guidelines. Tertiary providers are reminded that NCEA has replaced only School Certificate so far. Few students will leave school with only NCEA results until mid-2003. Until this time the majority of school leavers will present Sixth Form Certificate and /or University Bursaries results on application for tertiary programmes.
The information in the letter is also available on our website at www.nzqa.govt.nz
