Examination Results & Rewards

A new exams round and the developments continue.

This year, Bursaries candidates will be able to telephone an 0900 number to get their results a few days earlier than they will get them in the mail. On trial this year, the 0900 number costs callers 99 cents per minute. Because of the costs entailed in setting up the system, the Authority will make no profit from the service.

High flying Bursaries students will be especially eager to see their results in January. Government has topped up monetary awards already provided by the Authority:

  • $8000 for the top overall male and female students, and for the top male and female Māori and Pacific Island students (up from $5000).
  • $5000 for the top candidate in each Bursaries subject (up from $3000).

Students who gain five or six subject scholarships will receive cash of $2500 and $3000 respectively.

There are also up to 1200 new awards of $500 each for Bursaries candidates who achieve Scholarship level results in mathematics and science subjects if they continue their studies in mathematics or sciences at tertiary level.
